Railways
Indian Railways is the second
largest system in the world under a single management,
with an extensive network of 62,725 kilometers,
21.5 percent of which is electrified. It ranks
second in the world (after China) in terms of
freight intensity, track to land ratio, wagons
to track ratios, passengers and cargo.
The railway is one of the earliest
and still very reliable forms of transportation
of people and goods in this planet. Like other
massive modes of transportation, railways too
is driven by durability and extended life of its
assets covering a large range of wagons, engines,
electronics, assemblies and equipments. |
